Osman Coban

Osman Coban

Osman’s educational background includes his BA and MA at Ataturk University, Turkey and then after working as a teacher for 6 years went on to do and MEd and PhD at the University of Glasgow in children’s literature and literacies at the University of Glasgow. He recently completed PGDE in Primary at Strathclyde University.

He worked for several educational institutions in various positions such as ESOL teacher, a vice-principal, student advisor, graduate teaching assistant, research assistant, freelance interpreter and translator. He has also managed several projects funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and The Next Step Initiative. He currently works at the University of Glasgow as an Associate Tutor.

Osman has presented many papers both nationally and internationally as well as having a number of academic publications in the field of children’s literature and book reviews in academic journals. Finally, Osman has three daughters and enjoy reading, playing, chatting and messing around with them. His favourite book is The White Ship by Kyrgyz author Cengiz Aytmatov.

Yavuz Yardim

Yavuz Yardim

Yavuz YARDIM is an associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department. He has been involved in teaching, research and consultancy activities since 1998. He completed his Master and Ph.D. on structure engineering at University Putra Malaysia (UPM). His research focuses on Composite Precast Lightweight Slab, structure assessment and repair techniques for RC and masonry structures. Currently he is working on different strengthening techniques for Unreinforced Masonry Structures.

Mevlut Doger

Mevlut Doger isa highly qualified qualified Maths Teacher from Turkey with a large amount of experience in teaching maths for both children and adults. In his nearly 30 year career in teaching he has have learntone simple rule which is to enjoy jour job by changing people’s lives. He believes that he has changed many lives for the better by teaching maths with a positive attitude, successful pedagogy and taking time to understand and address students’ needs.

Furthermore, he is consider to be a hardworking and flexible teacher, with excellent time management, planning, organisationa and multi tasking skills.

Dr. Gaele Macfarlane

Dr. Gaele Macfarlane

Dr. Gaele Macfarlane has been an English language teacher and teacher trainer for over 25 years working in South East Asia and Turkey for the British Council and Koç University Istanbul. Her research focuses are English language teachers engagement in PD, extensive reading, speaking for fluency and engagement in online learning. Currently Gaele is working for Universidad Internacioanal de Valencia teaching on the translation course.

Burhan Tanis

Burhan Tanis

Burhan Tanis is a software developer. He completed his Master in Computer Science and Doctoral in Information Technology.

His research focuses on e-learning and long-distance education. He developed a vocabulary based e-learning platform for ESOL students when he was working in the Philippines at ISB company.
